New Menu

Here is the new Menu. I need someone to make the text "Digital Art"s look like the BGSU school of art logo.
For the submenus you click the link and the others will disappear. For example click animation the other three links will disappear.

DVD Templates not at all ready

I copied over the "DVD Templets" folder from inside "Demo 2012 DVD studio", which is full of Pedestal files. and the DemoReel2012.dspproj.

These DVD menus are not at all what we need. There is no room for buttons, the existing buttons on the main menu are just thrown in, i can't read the text - where is there any evidence of the Principles and elements of design here? Where is there room for 6 thumbnails, for example, in the Animation / Video sections? how about using the grid - not just slapping it in the center?

You don't even have the name "DIGITAL ARTS" anywhere in here! You have to have the title of the piece on every menu page somewhere - larger on the main page, and smaller on the inner menus.

You have to remember that this is an INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE. Look at professional DVD menus. There needs to be consistency throughout - there should be heirarchy, but refer back to the main page. It's not that different from a website- does the design completely change on every single page? NO - it still looks the same throughout.

We needed to see this posted On the blog here for us to see - not that i have to download this from the website. This blog is here so that we can give you immediate feedback.

We are beyond down to the wire, and these menus are completely unacceptable.

Please do what you can tonight to rework these. I need to see the comps. I was never under the impression that there would be one single giant pedestal. in the center with incorrect 3D perspectives - the buttons are not even beveled at the same way as the text which is also different than the pedestal itself. If you can't make the 3D look realistic, then we can't use this concept at all. We are a digital arts department, and it is expected that we understand the 3D virtual world.

Sampler Changes to make ASAP.

Sampler notes to change 2/12/12:

3D -1st Ball bounce – totally bleached out, don’t use. (white stairs on black)

Vid - Delong – hallway shot – maybe show her walking to the beat (a little earlier on clip before she walks out door and 2nd her walks in) – color correct

3D – trash guy – cut closer on action for reaction – either ease in to see more of him getting ready to toss OR show more of reaction to missing (not both, just one)

0:34 – cory’s particles – something weird with the render- horizontal lines fix or don't use. Have it start a second earlier so we reveal the flower. The timing is good on the next shot (glass) coming in, but we miss the flower.

0:45 jiffy pop penquins – not the strongest – replace it.

0:51 – venu fly trap – color too bleached out. Adjust or replace.

1:00 Chris carter BFA – is this the best shot (compositionally there’s a lot of green)

1:04 – sketch bottles (moore) – doesn’t work there

1:10- get rid of cemetery shot completely.

1:16 – get rid of bridge shot – doesn’t make sense as the ending.

SOUND: bring music back up more quickly at 0:21 – takes too long to come back in

Can be another 15 seconds longer at least.
Some of the particles can go or be shorter to get more time.

Don’t render out all the extra crap at the end. Use your Out-point.

Add:
Collin’s MFA video
Collin’s Amore video
Erin Niese’s Finding Anne
Christian Daugstrup’s triple self
Tim Steele’s giant composite
2012 Undergrad show:
- Dani Dikeman’s ball bounce LOVE
2011 BFA show:
- Christian Daugstrup BFA piece (in costume cigarettes)
- Erika Jenkins 2D animation
- Zach Hermiller video / motion
- Greg Ramsey video

Design work for the DA menu

The text for the menu for the DVD needs to be put into Photoshop in layers along with the buttons. Heather had given you instructions on this? If not I have a comp I can send. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find where to post a file to download....
